Raiders take look at free-agent QB

Free-agent quarterback Quinn Gray visited the Oakland Raiders on Tuesday as a potential candidate to be the backup to starter JaMarcus Russell.

Gray, 27, spent his first five NFL seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a backup to Byron Leftwich and David Garrard. He started four games in place of the injured Garrard last season.

He has attempted only 180 passes in 11 games during his NFL career. He has thrown 12 touchdowns passes and suffered five interceptions. The Raiders lost Josh McCown to the Miami Dolphins via free agency this month, and Daunte Culpepper is a free agent. McCown and Culpepper started 15 games last season.

For now, Andrew Walter is the only quarterback besides JaMarcus Russell on Oakland's roster. The Raiders intend to add at least one more quarterback before training camp begins in late July.

In other news, former Oakland Raiders linebacker Danny Clark met with the Raiders about the prospect of rejoining the team he played for in 2004 and '05. He lost his starting job to Kirk Morrison in '06 and was released.

Clark spent last season with the Houston Texans, and he played for the New Orleans Saints in 2006. He is an eight-year veteran.
