NFL: Mr. Irrelevant agrees to contract with Lions
Ramzee Robinson, who earned the title "Mr. Irrelevant" as the final player selected in the 2007 National Football League draft, agreed on a three-year contract with the Detroit Lions, his agent said.
Robinson, the last of 255 players selected in the NFL's annual draft of college players in April, agreed in principal to the deal, agent Andrew Benedict said in an e-mail. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
Lions spokesman Matt Barnhart didn't immediately return a telephone message at his office seeking comment.
The 23-year-old cornerback from the University of Alabama waited a record 18 hours, 5 minutes to hear his name called during the draft's seven rounds, after the Oakland Raiders selected JaMarcus Russell with the first pick.
Robinson started 36 of 50 games at Alabama, finishing his college career with 148 tackles, two forced fumbles and four interceptions.
