Oakland Raiders: Answering Burning Questions for the Silver and Black (Wk. 2)
During the past couple of weeks, I've reiterated that the Oakland Raiders have had the most productive offseason of all 32 NFL teams.
Raider Nation, think of this offseason as an act. A show, at your favorite Casino.
Oakland has drawn you in by signing Stanford Routt, Kamerion Wimbley, Richard Seymour, John Henderson, Rock Cartwright, Michael Bennet, Daniel Loper, Hiram Eugene, and others.
Good show, right?
But every great show needs that Grand Finale.
We hope that this Grand Finale will involve signing someone by the name of Nnamdi Asomugha. Please, Raiders, get that done.
And now to the article.
So, about a week ago I wrote a piece titled "Oakland Raiders: Answering the Most Burning Questions for the Silver and Black"
.
I vowed if it was lightweight successful, I'd make it a weekly thing. It did well in my book, so I'll take another shot at it.
Send me some questions, or post them below and I'll put them in next week's piece.
Should the Raiders bring in former Giants Tiki Barber and Plaxico Burress?
Rumors are slowly working themselves up that Al Davis and the Raiders are preparing to sign former Giants Plaxico Burress and Tiki Barber.
My take: Running back Tiki Barber is absolutely unnecessary and what I'd call, for lack of a better term here, a jerk. I fully expect the Raiders to re-sign Michael Bush. As for Plaxico Burress, it seems that the Raider Nation is split on bringing him in. I think it's very possible. At 6'5, he's a great red-zone threat. The red-zone is a place where Oakland struggled last year.
Will Oakland be bringing in a top-tier NFL quarterback?
Some aren't satisfied with Jason Campbell being the starter for the Raiders.
My take: If you think the Raiders are going to bring in a guy like Kevin Kolb, you're highly mistaken. Hue Jackson and Al Davis are adamant that Jason Campbell will become a pro-bowl quarterback with the Raiders. Oakland may draft a guy in the later rounds to be the third-string, but I think they'll sign Charlie Frye instead.
Should Stefen Wisniewski be the Raiders' draft selection?
Penn State guard Stefen Wisniewski is the fan-favorite to be a Raider this fall.
My take: I like Stefen, but I'm not completely sold on him. He seems a little small to me in spite of the fact that he weighed in at 306 at the combine. Listen, people: That is six more pounds than Samson Satele. And both players are the same height. Maybe Marcus Cannon would be a better choice in round two.
How will the NFL Lockout affect the Raiders?
With a lockout in full effect, many in Raider Nation are wondering what'll happen to the Raiders.
My take: The Raiders have a ton of young players on the squad, and a lockout would take much needed practices away. Remember, Nation: Nobody wins in a lockout.
Thanks for reading everybody. Tell me some of your thoughts below and don't forget to give me some questions for next week's article.
