Raiders should sign T.J. Houshmandzadeh

The Oakland Raiders added veteran QB Jason Campbell this offseason and Campbell has had time to work with these young receivers but an experienced pair of hands like Houshmandzadeh’s would provide Campbell will a sense of security. Yes, TE Zach Miller is developing into a great tight end but when it’s 3rd and 8 in the 4th quarter and the Raiders need a first down to keep the game winning drive going, I know Campbell would like to have a receiver on the field with Houshmandzadeh’s experience.

The AFC West is up for grabs in my estimation. The San Diego Chargers are going to battle without two key pieces, LT Marcus McNeill and WR Vincent Jackson. The Denver Broncos have dealt with key injuries all preseason and are being dismantled from within by their own head coach, Josh McDaniels. The Kansas City Chiefs added some offensive weapons but they are the Kansas City Chiefs.

Yes, I’ll admit that Houshmandzadeh is not the player he was 5 years ago, put he still caught 79 receptions last season, more than anyone of the Raiders roster and Houshmandzadeh was playing for a horrible Seattle Seahawks team. And since when do the Raiders shy away from an older player that can still produce.

This will be the most talented team that the Raiders put on the field since 2002, now finish what you started and pick up the phone and get Houshmandzadeh into the Raiders camp. If his addition means perhaps two more wins, at the end of the year, those two wins could be the difference of making the playoffs or not.
